Thrifting in Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh has a strong reuse culture alongside traditional thrift. Penn Avenue and the East End are useful for community thrift and vintage, while North Hills adds nonprofit clothing resale and McKnight Road mission-driven shops.
Construction Junction and Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse are standout stops for people hunting building materials, furniture, craft supplies and project pieces rather than only clothing. Thriftique and East End Community Thrift provide a more familiar nonprofit thrift experience.
Several of the city’s best reuse stops sit close together, so Pittsburgh is a good place to mix one or two clothing stores with a creative or home-reuse destination instead of repeating the same type of shop.
